Jan 21 (LNGJ) - The Panama Canal Authority has warned that the suspension of expansion work by the European engineering and construction consortium over a dispute for an additional $1.6 billion in costs is not valid, lacks merit and goes against what is established in the contract. US Gulf Coast LNG export projects are depending on the expansion to speed shipments to Asia from 2016. The expansion project is being carried out by Spanish company Sacyr SA and Italy's Impregilo SpA.
