Oct 23 (LNGJ) - The Queensland Curtis LNG project has inaugurated a water treatment plant in gas fields west of the Australian city of Brisbane. The plant is owned by QGC, a subsidiary of BG Group of the UK that is developing the QCLNG project. QGC is providing water from the plant to about 20 landholders and the town of Chinchilla in south-western Queensland. The water, which is contained in coal seams, is produced with natural gas. Gas companies that extract water for coal-seam-gas-to-LNG projects are obliged to treat it for use in agriculture, industry and urban supplies where required.
