Aug 14 (LNGJ) - Chevron Corp. Chief Executive John Watson told the Wall Street Journal newspaper in an interview that the US major was unlikely to seek currency hedge protection against swings in the Australian dollar that have intensified cost pressures at its US$45 billion Gorgon LNG project, even as it begins planning for an expansion of the liquefaction plant being built on Barrow Island. Main shareholders in addition to Chevron are ExxonMobil and Shell. Buyers Osaka Gas, Tokyo Gas and Chubu Electric have micro-stakes.
