July 16 (LNGJ) - A beach in the Iwaki Fukushima Prefecture has opened as the area's only functioning beach for this summer, with all other beaches still closed after the Fukushima nuclear accident in March 2011 that led to a surge in the Japanese LNG requirement. The beach was opened at Nakoso, about 65 kilometres south of the damaged N-plant, Kyodo news wire reported. The radioactive concentration in the seawater is below 1 becquerel per litre, and radiation in the air also poses no health risk, according to the Iwaki authorities.
