June 26 (LNGJ) - Tokyo Electric Power Co., Japan's biggest LNG importer, considered seeking bankruptcy protection following the Fukushima nuclear disaster, the utility's outgoing Chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata told the Nikkei in an interview. It would have been a shock for the LNG industry to have seen one of its main customers fail, analysts said. In the event, Tepco was bailed out by the government and is being supported in its continuing activities by other big Japanese LNG players.
