MEO Australia, developer of the Tassie Shoal LNG project in the Timor Sea, said it took "a very encouraging view" of the acquisition by Eni of Italy of a major stake in its nearby Evans Shoal gas field. "We note Eni's comments that this deal is a further step in their growth plans in the Australasian region, and Eni's strong commitment to the early development of the significant and known resources in the Bonaparte Basin," MEO said. "We look forward to continuing to work closely with Eni, as joint-venturers in the upcoming appraisal of the Heron and Blackwood fields in 2012," said MEO in reference to other possible feed-gas sources for the LNG project.
