Dec 14 (LNGJ) - Dongkuk Steel Mill Co., South Korea's third-largest steelmaker, said it had succeeded in commercializing cryogenic flexible steel for making liquefied natural gas storage tanks. Dongkuk Steel said research and development had taken three years.

Dongkuk, headquartered in the Korean port of Incheon, said the cryogenic flexible steel had passed tension tests by a global certifier, the Luxemburg Institute of Science and Technology. The product called “DK-CryoFlex BAR” can withstand temperatures as low as minus-170 C and will be marketed to LNG storage facilities.
