Though tender activity is picking up across Northeast Asia, the power generation sector shows little responsiveness to lower spot LNG prices. Analysts see demand largely being driven by South Asia, while rising nuclear generation limits coal-to-gas switching in Japan and South Korea where power sector LNG demand is forecast to fall by 1.1 million tons and 0.6 Mt, respectively.
