Nov 13 - French LNG and utility company Engie has held a celebration in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg with natural gas giant Gazprom, marking 40 years of cooperation. The ties began in 1975 with predecessor companies Gaz de France and Sojuzneftegazexport signing a supply contract. Engie Chairman and Chief Executive Gerard Mestrallet and Gazprom counterpart Alexei Miller highlighted the relationship "founded on natural gas supply, strengthened by technical cooperation and further developed in 2010 with participation in the transmission company Nord Stream." US and European Union sanctions are in force against Russia, mainly financial, for backing separatists in Ukraine and annexing Crimea.
