Oct 27 (LNGJ) - Woodfibre LNG, a Canadian project controlled by Indonesian billionaire Sukanto Tanoto and his Pacific Oil and Gas company, has received British Columbian environmental approval from two provincial ministries. The project will produce 2 million tonnes per annum from a plant on First Nation land near Squamish, north of Vancouver. "Receiving environmental approval in British Columbia is not only an important milestone for the Woodfibre LNG project, but it means the people of Squamish and the region are one step closer to realizing the opportunities that an industrial project like Woodfibre LNG can bring," said Byng Giraud, a company vice president. The federal Canadian Environment Assessment Agency is expected to make a decision on the project in the months ahead.
