Oct 15 (LNGJ) - SK Shipping, the South Korean operator of 12 liquefied natural gas carriers as well as scores of other vessels, has made requests for financing proposals to around 20 Korean and international banks to raise $600m for the construction of several new LNG carriers. SK Shipping will transport cargoes for Korean natural gas company SK E&S from the US Freeport LNG export plant currently being constructed at Quintana Island in Texas. SK E&S, which has 3 million utility customers in Korea, signed a 20-year liquefaction tolling agreement with Freeport in September 2013.
