Oct 7 (LNGJ) - The US Aker Philadelphia Shipyard said it had started construction of the third and fourth product tankers of four ordered by Kinder Morgan that will have LNG fuel capability. The new vessels will be 600-foot long and have a carrying capacity of 14.5 million gallons of crude oil or refined products. The vessels will be built with  consideration for use of LNG for propulsion and are planned to be delivered between November 2016 and November 2017. Upon their completion, the ships will be sold to subsidiaries of Kinder Morgan, the US pipeline company. "The transaction for the four tankers is valued at a total of $568 million and will help sustain the shipyard's 1,100 jobs for years to come," Aker Philadelphia said.
