Texas limits LNG exports during February’s cold freeze to avoid grid collapse
The US state of Texas, the country’s biggest oil producer and proud of its energy independence, has narrowly avoided a cascade of power failures when a historic winter storm hit the state for 10 days in mid-February. The state energy regulator mandated gas prioritization for power generation and ordered strict limits to LNG exports and flows of pipeline gas to Mexico. Markets Editor Anja Karl investigates.
