Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery & Engine (MHI-MME) recently delivered a regas boiler to Hyundai Heavy Industries to be fitted on a Höegh LNG FSRU.
The regas boiler fitted on board an FSRU provides the regasification unit with the required heat power (evaporation).
The boiler type for this project is a dual fuel (oil/gas) MAC type -MAC-90BF- (evaporation = 90 tonnes per hour), which is claimed to be highly reliable and has a long life.
By recovering the heat from the regas boiler’s exhaust gas, the boiler efficiency is improved by 12.5%, ie from 82.5% up to 95%, MHI-MME claimed, also saying that it achieved a huge NOx reduction of less than 100 mg per cu Nm when in gas firing mode, which, is relevant when operating in a NECA.
