Task force to build Greek LNG terminal

Thursday, 09 June 2016
This working group will present the optimum way for the Bulgarian Government to participate in a project to build a floating LNG terminal in northern Greece - the Alexandroupolis project.

According to Gastrade, the LNG terminal will materially enhance the energy security of Bulgaria by offering a different sources of natural gas supply.

Bulgaria represents the most important part of the project’s supply chain since, through the inter-connector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) and the National Natural Gas Transmission System of Bulgaria, operated by Bulgartransgaz, the access and shipment of natural gas from Alexandroupolis to Southeast European markets, such as Serbia, Macedonia, Romania and Ukraine, could follow.
