Oman LNG has agreed to supply up to 1.6 mill tonnes of LNG to TotalEnergies and to Thai state-owned PTT, according to the Omani state news agency.
TotalEnergies and PTT will each receive 800,000 tonnes of LNG per year. The French energy giant will commence a 10-year deal in 2025 and the Thai company will receive supply for nine years beginning in 2026.
Thailand, a net oil and gas importer, needs to increase imports of LNG to offset a steep production fall at its largest gas field and as sanctions threaten its supplies from Myanmar, Reuters reported.
Last month, Oman LNG signed deals with the Japanese electricity generator JERA, and trading houses Mitsui & Co and Itochu Corp to supply 2.35 mill tonnes of LNG per year, starting in 2025, for up to 10 years.
Turkey has also signed a purchase agreement with Oman LNG to buy 1.4 bill cu m of LNG per annum for 10 years.
Energy Minister Fatih Donmez said earlier this week at an event in Istanbul, that a delegation from state energy company Botas was in Oman to sign the agreement.
