Canada’s Ksi Lisims LNG project has received the Canadian Energy Regulator’s (CER) approval for a 40-year license to export LNG.
An export license is granted when the CER is satisfied that the natural gas supply required to meet a project’s export needs are surplus to the foreseeable Canadian demand requirements, the developer explained.
The license will be issued following approval of the Canadian Minister of Natural Resources.
Ksi Lisims LNG is a project involving the Nisga’a Nation and Rockies LNG, a partnership of Canadian natural gas producers, together with Western LNG, a Texas-based developer of LNG export facilities.
Canada’s Nisga’a Nation is a self-governing, modern treaty Nation with significant, defined control of and rights over its lands. The nation’s sites are claimed to be ideally situated along the Canadian west coast with direct access to overseas markets, close proximity to approved natural gas pipeline routes and prime locations for the development of LNG projects.
Rockies LNG Partners was formed to develop LNG market access opportunities on the west coast of British Columbia and collectively, the partners produce about 20% of Canada’s natural gas.
