GTT has signed a contract for its smart shipping solutions, GTT Digital, to be fitted to more than 30 vessels in two years.
The undisclosed buyer was said to be a major player in the shipment of liquefied gases.
Under the contract, the fitting of sensors, automatic data collection systems and intelligent software to manage and optimise the energy and environmental performance of the vessels will be installed on each ship.
Also included will be periodic consulting support by GTT Digital's experts who will perform customised data analysis and produce dedicated operational reporting.
Philippe Berterottière, GTT Chairman and CEO, said: "We are delighted to sign this significant contract for our Smart Shipping technology, GTT Digital, which contributes to making maritime transport greener. This partnership underlines GTT's ability to provide innovative turnkey solutions that adapt to the needs of each shipowner and operator, including real-time decision support for crews on board and ashore.”
GTT has also reported orders from two Chinese shipyards.
First, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) ordered the tank design for two 175,000 cu m ships on behalf of CMES LNG Carrier Investment.
They represent DSIC’s first LNGC orders.
The two ships will each be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system and their deliveries are scheduled for the third quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, respectively.
The second order came from Jiangnan for the tank design of three new LNGCs.
They will also have a cargo capacity of 175,000 cu m each and will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system.
Deliveries of these vessel are scheduled for the third quarter of 2025 and the second quarter of 2026.
In addition, GTT received an order from Samsung Heavy Industries for the tank design of two new LNGCs, ordered by an European shipowner.
These two LNGCs will have a tank capacity of 174,000 cu m per ship and will similarly be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system.
Deliveries of these vessels are scheduled for the last quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2026, respectively.
