Italian energy company Edison has won an arbitration case against Qatargas over an LNG price review.
This involved a long-term contract to purchase LNG from Qatar.
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) had notified both parties of the decision.
Proceedings were started in 2019 by Qatargas against Edison in an attempt to obtain an increase in the LNG contract price.
Fully accepting Edison’s arguments, the arbitration board decided to reject all Qatargas’ requests for a price increase of several hundred million euros during the period.
Through the Qatargas contract, Edison imports about 6.5 bill cu m of LNG per year to Italy through the Rovigo regasification terminal.
