GTT has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Classification Society (CCS).
This MoU aims at the technical co-operation between the two companies in the application of GTT’s membrane technology.
Under the agreement, GTT and CSS will co-operate on designing China’s inland waterway transportation, small-scale to large LNGCs, LNG fuelled ships, plus land-based LNG storage tanks.
In-depth technical analysis will be performed by CCS, which will include the cargo containment systems’ technical plan approvals and risk assessments.
GTT has also received its first order from Chinese shipyard Jiangnan Shipyard (Group).
Jiangnan has ordered GTT’s membrane cargo handling system and tank design for a 79.800 cu m LNGC contracted by Chinese shipowner JOVO for delivery in 4Q23.
This shipyard is the second Chinese LNGC builder to construct a vessel with GTT technology, following Hudong-Zhonghua.
GTT will design the vessel’s tanks, to be fitted with a Mark III Flex membrane containment system, which will be the first LNGC built in China to be fitted with this technology.
