Smaller rivals to LNG Canada advance with Cedar first to take FID

Activity returned in the Canadian LNG space as Pembina Pipeline Corp and the Haisla First Nation have just taken FID to proceed with the near-shore Cedar FLNG project on the Douglas Channel near Kitimat. With a nameplate capacity of 3.3 million tons per annum (mtpa), the project is strategically positioned to export parts of Western Canada's abundant gas supplies to Asia, though it is way smaller than the massive Shell-led LNG Canada project which is meant to enter operations in early 2025.
