US District Judge James Cain in Lake Charles, Louisiana, has blocked President Biden’s temporary ban on approving applications to export LNG to non-FTA-countries, ruling the ban should “be stayed in its entirety, effective immediately.” The Trump-appointed judge sided with 16 Republican-led states, including Texas, Louisiana and Florida, which argue the Department of Energy (DOE) overstepped its authority and jeopardises billions of dollars in investment.
