GEFC expects gas demand to rise 36 percent by 2050

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) forecasts natural gas demand will increase by 36 percent to 5,460 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2050, with power generation accounting for 43 percent of additional volumes. Clean air policies in Europe and the United States are anticipated to make gas overtake coal in around 2025 and become the most utilised fuel just after 2040.
