North America’s large gas resources could meet over 30 years of domestic and LNG export demand at a cost of less than $3 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), McKinsey reckons. But this would require investment in new feeder pipelines and buyers committing to 20-year offtake deals, which European utilities are reluctant to do.
