US government analysts expect natural gas spot prices to rise again this month and stay high through the rest of 2022 due to low inventories and higher gas-burn in the power sector. Spot prices at Henry Hub averaged $8.14 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) in May, and are forecast to increase to $8.71 per MMBtu from June through August.
