Taiwan's summer LNG imports surge amid nuclear power outage

Peak summer LNG shipments to Taiwan has surged due to an earlier-than expected shutdown of the first 990 MW unit at the Kuosheng nuclear power plant, with monthly LNG imports anticipated at 9.7 million tons through September. Taiwan’s main utility, CPC Corp already received US LNG from Corpus Christi since January under a 25-year supply deal with Cheniere Energy.
