UK Withdraws $1.15bn from Mozambique LNG as Partners Replace Funds with Equity

Wednesday, 03 December 2025

Combined with the Netherlands' similar withdrawal, European agencies have pulled $2.5bn in backing. Project partners will replace the funding with equity to maintain the 2029 restart timeline. Mozambique LNG is among the few African LNG projects capable of reversing the continent’s ongoing production decline.
