Teekay LNG Partners, the New York-listed unit of Canada-based Teekay Corp. with stakes in 27 LNG carriers, plans a share sale to investors for funds to partly finance an increase in the size of the fleet.

The Japan Bank for International Cooperation has provided a guarantee for a $1 billion worth of Samurai Bonds issued in the Japanese market by Qatar Petroleum, the world's largest LNG producer, because of the Gulf State's importance as a Japanese LNG supplier.

The Japanese and Russian governments are announcing the formal go-ahead this week of the joint venture Vladivostok LNG project at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in the Russian Far East port. The Vladivostok LNG plant will be similar in scale to nearby Sakhalin LNG (pictured).

Hoegh LNG of Norway was selected as the preferred bidder to provide a floating LNG import unit (FSRU) for two companies in Chile and involving a 10-year charter with five-year extension options.
