The American Bureau of Shipping, the US classification society, has granted extended general design approval for a South Korean LNG cargo containment tank system.

Forecasters are seeing oil prices at their low levels or slightly higher for the rest of the decade, and this will have serious implications for the rest of the world outside North America, which is in a strong position in terms of shale gas, LNG exports and oil. 

Japanese classification society Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, known as ClassNK, said it had updated its guidelines for LNG-fuelled ships amid tighter restrictions just introduced on sulfur emissions in ports.

A French company is planning LNG exports from the US without any industrial facilities and using 10,000-gallon containers to ship the fuel on cargo vessels from ports in Florida, Louisiana and Texas.
