LNG

The US Department of Transportation is advancing with plans to establish a set of regulations for the shipment of liquefied natural gas by rail tanker cars across the nation, expanding use of LNG for power and as fuel in smaller capacities and in regions such as the Midwest and others further from the coast where production is centered.

The Department’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is making the proposal for public comment in cooperation with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), seeking to authorize rail transport of LNG for the first time.
