While the Strait of Hormuz is highlighted as the Gulf energy chokepoint because of Iranian interference with tanker traffic and its threats against ships, the US government said that other strategic areas for LNG and oil flows are the Suez Canal and the Sumed pipeline from the Red Sea to the East Med.
