US natural gas consumption increases amid cold front and Mexico pipeline and LNG export rise

US consumption of natural gas rose by 27 percent in the past week amid colder East Coast weather and pipeline exports to Mexico increased 4 percent as LNG exports amounted to six cargoes through December 15 from the Sabine Pass liquefaction plant in Louisiana. The nation’s second LNG export plant at Cove Point in the East Coast state of Maryland is expecting to ship its first cargo in early 2018.
