ExxonMobil, the US major with LNG production stakes in Qatar and the Asia-Pacific, has agreed to acquire Celtic Exploration of Canada and its substantial shale-gas assets in the prolific Montney basin, signalling its imminent entry into the Canadian LNG export business.
