The price of LNG and the wide differentials between prices in East Asia and elsewhere is the one issue that splits the industry. The largest and historic LNG buyers, Japan and South Korea, pay the highest prices because of oil-indexation in long-term contracts. The chart (right) shows the annual natural gas regional price spreads and the spot LNG price for North East Asia.
