Japan and South Korea agreed to improve cooperation on joint LNG procurement by their nations' utilities and to obtain more rights to develop natural gas fields overseas as a way to reduce the amount both countries pay for LNG imports, but stopped short of announcing any joint purchase policy for short-term cargoes.
