More spot and short-term LNG cargoes than ever before have been diverted to Japan and Korea in recent months - at prices the Japanese and Koreans are finding too high in the current economic and monetary squeeze.

That's why the two East Asian LNG giants will hold talks in Tokyo on November 28 to discuss the possibility of joint procurement measures to lower their LNG purchasing costs. They may also increase their number of cargo swaps.
