Inpex Corp. of Japan said the Ichthys LNG Project final investment decision would be made by mid-January 2012 or even before then, with cost estimates now put at around $30 billion.

The Ichthys liquefaction plant, in which France's Total is the other major shareholder, will be built near Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory.
