Lithuania said three companies submitted bids to develop its planned floating import facility and the Baltic state expects to sign a deal in early 2012, giving it an alternative to supplies of natural gas from Russia's Gazprom.

A deal is expected to be finalized in January or February 2012 and the winning bidder will sign a contract to supply a floating storage and regasification vessel as a dockside import facility at the port of Klaipeda, a statement said.
