BG LNG profit falls even as 76 cargoes sent to Asia

Wednesday, 26 October 2011

BG Group said third-quarter LNG operating profit fell 14 percent to $620 million compared with the same three months a year ago and was also down over the past nine months, even as the UK company diverted more LNG cargoes to the high-priced Asia-Pacific market.

BG said the performance was still ahead of its expectations, as it diverted 89 percent of its LNG cargoes during the first nine months of 2011 into the short-term and spot market compared with 78 percent in the same three months of 2010.
