Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands officially opened Europe’s newest LNG import terminal, the Gate facility in Rotterdam, giving the Dutch port the final and key entry in its energy importation portfolio.

The Port of Rotterdam has played a prominent part as an energy port, both as importer and exporter. It continues to send the most gasoline cargoes from Europe, for example, across the Atlantic to the US.
