Statoil takes hit of $1Bln on US LNG and hedging

Statoil, the Norwegian energy company, said its second-quarter earnings included a $620 million write-down on its US Cove Point LNG import terminal interests because the “rapid development” of shale gas in the US had much reduced the need for LNG imports.
