US LNG imports set to rise despite weak gas market

US LNG imports are expected to increase to about 495 billion cubic feet of natural gas in 2009 from 352 Bcf in 2008, due to weakness in demand for LNG in the global market and short-term offtake reaching US terminals from producers such as Qatar.
