Indian Oil Corp (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corp (BPCL) and GAIL India are considering purchasing US LNG, India’s Oil Secretary, Pankaj Jain told reporters in New Delhi on Monday.
He also revealed that some companies could be open to buying shares in US LNG projects.
“We are talking with US on both crude and LNG, but LNG is a bigger priority than crude,” Jain said.
Earlier, Indian buyers, including IOC, were said to be in discussions to buy LNG on a long-term basis from US export giant Cheniere Energy and others. GAIL is also considering investing in a US project, sources told Bloomberg.
