US LNG future boosted as Utica Shale may be the nation's largest natural gas field

US liquefied natural gas export prospects have been boosted even higher by an Energy Department report saying the Utica Shale, located below half-a-dozen states in the eastern US and reaching into Quebec in Canada, may hold almost 800 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, making it the largest gas field in North America and outshining the better-known Marcellus Shale.
