Japan has some way to go to improve LNG markets as well as interconnections and storage access after risks were taken on energy security in the 2020-2021 winter season as stock levels dropped and the effectiveness of the nation’s very fragmented  pipeline network was exposed, having been developed separately rather than through a single gas network company.
