French fuelling specialist Elengy has announced an increase in capacity at its Montoir-de-Bretagne LNG terminal to accomodate 18 LNG trucks loading per day.
The firm announced the upgrade to meet “the growing market demand for natural gas” in the region and will increase capacity by 50% from the previous level of 12 truck-loadings per day.
“The delivery of LNG by truck can meet the needs of off-grid industrial sites, filling stations for LNG as fuel for vehicles, or LNG bunkering of small vessels. The development of this service allows to replace more polluting fuels by LNG, more economical and more ecological, to accompany the energy transition,” a spokesperson for Elengy said.
The increase in capacity was made possible by development work carried out on the terminal to optimize the loading schedule.
Eight-fold increase in four years
The Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal was launched in 2013 and provides an LNG loading service for LNG trucks and ISO containers. Elengy also operates a sister terminal at Fos sur Mer since June 2014.
In July, Elengy announced a capacity increase for its Fos Tonkin LNG terminal from 8 to 11 truck-loadings per day and in autumn 2017, the firm plans to create an additional time slot to accommodate up to 12 trucks per day.
“Thanks to its location and the continuous improvement of the service, Fos-sur-Mer has become the preferred place for supplying southern France and Italy with LNG loaded on trucks. This led us to increase again loading capacity,” an Elengy spokesperson said.
Since the creation of its LNG stations, Elengy has multiplied the loading capacity at its terminals by a factor of eight in total.
