The Chinese government has approved Beijing Gas’ plans to build a 5 mtpa LNG import terminal near Tianjin City by 2022 to help boost regional gas imports. The economically thriving Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, home to some 113 million people, is at the heart of China’s ‘Blue Skies’ policy aimed at accelerating a coal-to-gas switch in the power sector to improve air quality.
