Shanghai, mainland China’s financial hub has started to gradually lift the city’s two-month long lockdown from midnight on May 31 – with little impact on LNG import volumes so far. In fact, China’s overall LNG imports have fallen 18 percent from January to April 2022, compared to the pre-year period, as record high prices and subdued fuel consumption from manufacturers and industry stiffled demand.
