LNG transport and storage specialist GTT predicts the number of slots for LNG carriers is set to rise around 40% by 2028, as demand for new vessels rises.

Speaking in a recent third quarter earnings call, the Jean-Baptiste Choimet, CEO of GTT, predicted that slots at Chinese shipyards would increase to 85 by 2026, up from the current level of 70. Looking further ahead Choimet expects that “an increase of 10 to 15 slots looks like a reasonable number” for the period to 2028, taking the total to around 100. 

GTT also reported strong growth for the first nine months of 2024, with €464.7 million of revenue compared to €300 million in the same period last year, an increase of 55%.
