Rising LNG prices are feeding through to wholesale electricity markets. To mitigate exposure, utilities in Thailand and Vietnam are shifting from purely index‑linked LNG contracts toward structures with price caps and multi‑year tenures, covering up to 80% of their projected LNG-fired power plant needs.

ADNOC Gas has lowered LNG production at its 6 mtpa Das Island plant and is now working on a “transaction-by-transaction basis to fulfil its contractual LNG commitments, the company said in a stock exchange filing.

Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albansese is considering a windfall tax on gas producers as LNG prices surge, asking to model new levy options for the gas industry. Government data showing LNG exports worth about A$65.4 billion and volumes of 79.8 million tonnes in the 12 months to April 2025.
